According to a joint survey by North Bridge and Gigaom, close to 45 percent of all companies world-wide run critical business processes in the cloud or are planning a comprehensive shift (Click to Tweet). This means that today almost every second company uses IT as a service (ITaaS) to handle key processes or is planning to outsource to the cloud.
During the course of the digital transformation, the cloud has become an essential part of a company’s IT – and there’s hardly any alternative. After all, if the CIO fails to offer something as software as a service, employees from other departments will simply pick this up from online platforms with obscure security guidelines. This shadow IT is also in the cloud, but it is not subject to the strict security measures which certified providers have. Companies have taken the first step, but now they must push ahead even more with change within the company.
